It’s the final leg of our birthday weekend RV trip to San Antonio, and today we’re heading back to homebase! After a delicious meal-prepped breakfast—Mike’s famous breakfast burritos and homemade blueberry muffins—we fire up the checklist app (still in beta!) to start packing up the motorhome.
But our smooth departure quickly takes a turn... As we input our route into the Garmin RV GPS, it alerts us: I-10 is CLOSED! Suddenly, we’re rerouted along with every other driver trying to leave San Antonio.
Traffic, detours, and delays—this travel day had a few unexpected twists. We eventually reconnect with Route 10, skip the packed Buc-ee’s, and fuel up at a new roadside stop called The Texan—a hidden gem that reminds us of a mini Buc-ee’s! We finally make it to our homebase at the ranch, where our RV stays when not traveling.
Exhausted but flexible, Mike suggests staying the night and working remotely from the RV. Good call—because the next morning, the internet is down at the house!
Join us for Part 3 of our San Antonio adventure: an honest, behind-the-scenes RV travel day filled with scenic moments, real-time changes, and a little humor on the road!
